Supposed demise of printed books

In 1897 Mark Twain responded to news of his supposed demise with “The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” or words to that effect. The same could be said of printed books, predicted to go the way of newspapers – swamped by a digital tidal wave of eReaders.

Fortunately for book lovers (of the print variety) this hasn’t yet happened. However, as this article by author Nick Earls argues, we should be careful what we read into the ‘damn lies and statistics’ around print, digital (and audio) book consumption.
